The drama written and directed by singer-songwriter Sia has been under fire for its casting and portrayal of autism.
Hudson, who has been nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance as Kazu “Zu” Gamble, said she felt the backlash was an “important dialogue,” but noted the intended message of the film was expressed.
